AV Requirements

Equipment

This is the equipment that James normally requires.

• LCD Projector and Screen (he'll bring his own laptop)
• Flipchart and pens
• Speakers to plug into his laptop (enables the playing of video and music)
• Plenty of drinking water
• Internet or WiFi connection (not necessary but does allows reference to websites)

Plus a lapel microphone when presenting to more than 150 delegates (a handheld mike is no good - James needs both hands for presenting!)

For the delegates

• A copy of James’s PowerPoint slides (we will send these ahead of time in PDF format)
• Copies of any additional handouts, where applicable
• A few sheets of plain paper
• A pen

Room Layout

ALL the training James runs is highly interactive. He pauses frequently to give staff time to discuss the ideas he is presenting. This applies as much to the keynote speeches as it does to small group training. He also encourages questions and critiques throughout training days, believing these to be crucial to maintaining the deepest levels of learning.

To support this interactive-style of presenting, James finds the following room layouts work best:

Less than 20 delegates

• BOARDROOM or HORSESHOE shape of tables and chairs, set out so that everyone can see each other and see the projector screen easily.

Between 20 and 100 delegates

• CABARET style with tables dotted around the room, each with between 4 and 8 delegates sat around (though trying to avoid delegates having to sit with their backs to the projector screen)

More than 100 delegates

• Cabaret style is still the best, but most venues cannot accommodate this. That said, even if there are hundreds, thousands even, of delegates sat in theatre-style rows, James will still make sure the training/keynote is interactive, with lots of opportunity for discussion and feedback.
