Supporting Your Children’s Learning

At Challenging Learning, we recognise and appreciate the important role that parents play in developing confident, resilient, and motivated learners.  As we prepare to write our book for parents it is important for us to focus on your role in your child’s learning journey.  We want you to be in The Learning Pit with your child as you learn together.

Similarly, we want this book to be YOUR book, not OUR book.  We want the book to be written in the context of real life learning.  We very much want this to be a practical and useable resource for you and therefore, we would very much welcome your contributions.

If you would like to be a part of our new book, we invite you to contribute your experiences.  This may include:

  • Images of your child/children engaging in any of the activities we have shared
  • Feedback and comments from you about how you have found using the activities. What you thought was effective and why?
  • Quotes from your child that they may have shared about the activities or ideas or thinking they shared while engaged in dialogue during an activity
  • Any ways that you may have adapted the activities to make them work for your context

We will endeavour to include as many contributions as we can and to acknowledge each contributor within the book. We will also with your permission share these here on our website.  If you are willing to share, please use the button below to e-mail your pictures/words and include a signed release, which can be accessed here.

Quotes & Testimonials

You can feel good and bad about the choices you make, but every choice has risk. even if you HAVE to do something, you still have a choice.

Student from Highline School DistrictCHOICE activities

My students were excited to have the opportunity to elaborate on concepts they could connect with and ideas that they vaguely knew information about - and then being able to expand on their understanding. Their willingness to grapple with these ideas and concepts was uplifting - that they were willing to be in a place to say, ‘I thought I knew what that was, but now I'm learning more.
