Heartsease place an emphasis on developing the skills and creativity of all their pupils and recognising the uniqueness of each student. From 2015, Challenging Learning have worked alongside them on this journey, helping students to become more resilient, ask better questions, challenge themselves and each other.
Observable Impact in Heartsease
All staff systematically plan for challenge and in 70% of lessons observed in the mid-term review (March 2018), questioning by students and staff helped deepen thinking.
80% of students observed are able to explain their process of learning and how they have overcome difficulties to solve a problem.
- All students who were asked about struggle said they welcomed and enjoyed challenge and recognised that mistakes lead to learning.
