Currently, Carmen combines her work for Challenging Learning with the role of Assistant Superintendent at the Regional Office of Education in Bloomington, IL. It is in this leadership position that she first noted the significant impact that comes from schools engaging with Challenging Learning. Of course, there are many programs and events available to educators, but Carmen had never witnessed such sustainable and context-driven improvements as those that come from the Challenging Learning Process. The fact that the process is tailor-made to the needs and goals of the organisation; includes all stakeholders; and effectively addresses learning in all content areas, was too good to pass up. So, as the saying goes, she loved the mission so much that she joined the company!

Carmen has 11 years of experience as a teacher; nine years as a principal, and three as Director of Elementary Education. She also has a master’s degree in Administration; a Superintendent’s certificate; and is in the final stages of her EdD in Education Administration Foundations, all from Illinois State University. She accompanied Professor Carol Dweck and James Nottingham on a conference tour of Europe in 2019 and led a study tour of schools using the Challenging Learning Process across the UK in 2020.
